Daily Reflections:
The day started with a classic case of town syndrome: sleep was a distant dream, but at least the snoring meant I got some rest, right? My stomach, however, decided to join the rebellion, protesting louder as the day (and meals) progressed.
Kicked things off with coffee at the Pines, where Granite, Scooter, and I swapped stories. Followed it up with breakfast at Heart and Soul, where I paid it forward by treating an elderly lady to coffee—good deed of the day done. Then came the resupply run that somehow cost $118. Did I buy caviar and not notice? Sour cream and fruit for lunch might’ve been a mistake, but what’s life without a little adventure?
Post-lunch, I took the advice of every self-help book ever and meditated in the sun. No deep insights, but I did manage to not fall asleep, so that’s something. Later, I had a deep chat with Narrator, a worldly Brit with many job titles and that casually mentioned he once spent a month living in a tree to save it from being cut down. As one does.
Then, things got really exciting. A sudden windstorm decided to drop a parasol on my head. Who knew town life was so dangerous? Dinner didn’t do any favors for my already rebellious stomach, and ice cream might’ve been the final straw. Let’s just say the gas bill is paid in full.
To wrap things up, I trimmed my mustache—one small step for food hygiene, one giant leap for my face. Tomorrow, I’ll figure out how to escape Pinedale and avoid the nearby fire. No biggie, right? We’ll see… it’ll all sort itself out, I’m sure.
