Reflections:

The day started at 5:00 am, and by 5:30, I was on the trail. I passed by Semper Dry’s tent in the dark, leading to an amusing moment as he joked, “Is this how it ends?” after waking up startled. I hiked over a mountain as the sun began to rise, feeling hopeful about the day. By mid-morning, I was treated to some unexpected trail magic—a man stopped his car and handed me a bonus card for a free coffee. His kindness, like so many others out here, brought a smile to my face.

After a brief but productive visit to the post office, I enjoyed some downtime at Tranquilbuzz Café, sipping on that free coffee and watching the eclectic mix of folks. The afternoon brought reunions with 70 and Semper Dry, and we capped the evening with dinner at Denny’s. I should’ve gone for a salad, but a massive burger, pancakes, and a milkshake it was. I ended the day sprawled on the hotel room floor, feeling the weight of all those calories but grateful nonetheless.
