Daily Reflections (challenges, insights, musings):
Woke up at 7 a.m., fully rested and ready for action. But first, a hearty breakfast made by none other than the legend, Kays. I devoured 4.5 eggs (yes, I’m counting), bacon, and all the works. Fueled up, we hit Twin Lakes for coffee and burritos, because, obviously, second breakfast is a necessity.
The hike kicked off at a rather aggressive angle. Like, why does every trail have to start with a vertical wall? After two hours of climbing, Kays pulled a hero move and became our personal Sherpas, carrying our bags like it was nothing. What a team!
As we neared the top of Hope Pass, thunder boomed in the distance. Time to say goodbye to our trusty Sherpa friends. Wild Flower and I sprinted up the pass like two caffeine-fueled gazelles (okay, maybe just slow gazelles) and cruised down the other side. The views were straight out of a postcard—peaks surrounded by a sea of golden aspen trees, doing their autumn thing.
By 6 p.m., we found a sweet camping spot under a giant pine, just as the rain started up. And then, because the universe loves a good plot twist, it started snowing. But honestly, it’s beautiful here. Cold, yes, but cozy inside the tent. And with that, it’s time for sleep. Natti!
