Daily Reflections (challenges, insights, musings):

Today was one of those days that makes all the hard work worth it. The Teton views were nothing short of spectacular, especially after climbing two high passes above 3000 meters. The day was full of camaraderie with long breaks, great conversations, and a lot of group photos.

After a somewhat risky descent, we rewarded ourselves with a swim in a lake below. The water was cold but refreshing—exactly what we needed after the effort.

The day wasn’t over though; we had an 8 km climb ahead, taking us up to 3200 meters with even more stunning views of the Tetons. On the way up, I spotted a moose, and Granite reported seeing a grizzly.

We eventually made our way down into the Alaska Basin where we set up camp. The younger hikers are still outside, having fun, but I’m calling it an early night. Sometimes I tell my introvert self I will feel better and more energized by enjoying some peace and quiet, especially after a day like this. Then again, I have regretted few, if any, meaningful and deep human interactions in my life and after a day like today people bend towards inner truth and the deeper connection. I actually might be missing out…anyway I am already in my sleeping bag…feeling the onset of sleep.
