Daily Reflections (challenges, insights, musings):

I’m not at my best today. My hands aren’t working properly, my brain is sluggish, and I desperately need sleep. My feet, especially the left sole, are a mess.

The water situation is driving me nuts. I can’t find a Sawyer Squeeze here or in Butte. Should I just buy another brand? The frustration is real.

Caren was a ray of sunshine. She’s a fighter and her kindness with water and a burrito was much needed.

Resupplying was a chore. I had to visit four different stores before getting everything. Note to self: Go to Walmart directly next time. The coffee was lousy, and I’m too tired to think straight.

Biking into downtown Helena was a treat. Live music on the streets was a pleasant surprise. I ended up at the Wind Bag. It was crowded at first, but the food and ambience were disappointing. Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood. I didn’t charge my stuff at the bar, so now I’m here, charging at night.

Despite everything, the hills around Helena are breathtaking. They remind me why I’m out here in the first place.

The loner bike

The hostel cat. The red under my foot is a nasty friction burn
